I am a Guelph artist and educator who has shown art
in Toronto, Guelph, Woodstock, Eden Mills, Ridgetown and Fergus. I hold
Degrees in Botany, fine art and education.
Pen and ink, watercolour, acrylics, collage and
printmaking are the predominant types of media found in my work at this
time. Organic shapes and forms, strong lines, repetition and vivid
colours predominate.
The environment and ecology are persistent themes
in my work; influenced by pertinent changes in today’s global world.
Declining populations of bees, frogs, seahorses and other species are of
great concern. To bring attention to the plight of these organisms,
images created and present in this gallery.
Life drawing and the human form are also of
interest. The immediacy of capturing the figure in two-minute gestures
and the energy of the model is challenging. After a life class, I take
the work to my studio and exaggerate the line to create definition,
variety and movement. Work is then scanned into the computer. I can add
colour using computer programs direct, or use the image for additional
work. I am working to have a multimedia presentation using computer
technology. As a part of lifelong learning, always be open and receptive
to new ideas, options and possibilities.
